Abstract

The use of bio fuel is increasing every year. Nowadays you will find different alternatives to oil and electricity heating system. In this essay I have examined what the economic conditions are to invest in a bio fuel furnace. I have chosen to assume from a specific farm and do a case study on this farm. Malmvik farm is located just outside of Stockholm. Malmvik farm is a tillage farm, but also management of about 20 houses. Today all houses are heated separately with oil and electricity. In my case study a have chose to calculate with a furnace that you could use to heat grain, oil and splinter. In my case study I have examined what to take into consideration before accomplishing such a big investment. My calculations are based on information obtained from leaflets, Internet, retailers, advisers and authorities. Bio fuel is the fuel of the future. My calculations show that the investments are profitable already the first year. Most profitable is to heat with straw, furthermore the differences between heating with straw are small compared heating with grain and splinter. Irrespective what kind of bio fuel you use, the heating costs will decrease. The price of grain, splinter and straw may vary and will be valued differently, which is important and worth mentioning.
